how can we
Re-uploaded on 11 Feb. The iPhone displays an image instead of the app screen. I think this might provoke more thinking. I also changed the question to include how we view, not just present ourselves.
This is my submission for week 3 of edcmooc. I tried to look at how the way we use technology shapes the way we communicate ourselves to others online.
The papercraft of myself is a whimsical and incomplete self representation, simplistic, limiting, boxed. But in fact, the same can be said of the tools and apps I used.
Also, you may see parts of the real me, my arms and hands, because I am able to choose which part of me I reveal. At the same time, the metadata, geolocation for example, that is part of this digital image can expose information I may wish to hide.
Then, of course, there is also the meanings, intended and unintended, suggested by the tools I chose — what’s up with all these iDevices?

how can we
How can you move on if you are still living in the past? And how can you step forward, leaving the past behind, if you can’t even begin to forgive what the past holds? How can you love someone for who they are, yet want to hate them for what they’ve done? I guess what it boils down to is this — there are always those defining moments, times that makes us or breaks us, build us or tear us apart, help us progress further or stop us dead in our tracks. And for whichever way we may choose, there’s a consequence of equal value. It’s a true test of what we stand for, where we came from, and where we are going. These are moments that we live for, breathe for, and fight for. These are the defining moments that leave imprints forever in our hearts, making our souls forever. These are choices that could bring you one step closer to forever or leaving you hostage to the past. I guess in order to move on from the past you must learn to forgive it. And forgiving may mean letting go.
It’s hard to believe 3 years ago I joined Flickr.
I’m beyond grateful for the inspiration, friendship, support & pure love that I have from so many extraordinary people.
It would take a novel to fully express the gratitude I hold toward every single one of you.
With this New Year right around the corner, I look forward to another year spent, as well as many years to come, with my Flickr family.
I hope the New Year brings upon you all an endless amount of happiness, peace, love & creativity!
